Beschreibung
This book, a collection of my academic articles which I have prepared and written approximately for three years, reviews the origin and reality of South Korean education fever. However, in reality, it can be said that this book is a comprehensive and supplementary research paper on the issue of Koreans' enthusiasm for education, which the author has been interested in and studying for approximately 30 years from a Korean perspective. The book is composed of five chapters. Chapter 1 reviews the origin and evolution of education fever in S. Korea in terms of the history of Korean Culture. Chapter 2 examines the development of Korean education fever from Japanese colonial period to contemporary S. Korea. Chapter 3 discusses educational fever and contemporary S. Korean higher education. Chapter 4 weighs educational fever and credentialism in S. Korea from the perspective of higher education. Finally, Chapter 5 explores educational fever and factionalism in contemporary S. Korea from a sociopolitical perspective. All 5 academic papers appear in ERIC (Education Resources Information Center), the Institute of Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education.
