"Boethius' Revision of Aristotle's Work "peri hermeneias"
Concordances, Word-Lists and Reprint of the Text after the Codex Sangallensis 818
(Text in Latin and Old High German)
Notker Labeo, scholar, teacher and head of the monastery school at St.Gallen translated the principal works of the medieval canon form Latin into Old High German to assist his pupils, brothers and other contemporary scholars in understanding the difficult works.
The present volume gives us the first literal copy of the St.Gallen ms. of Boethius' Latin translation of Aristotle's "De interpretatione" together with Notker's OHG translation, and is complemented by separate computer-generated concordances of the Latin and OHG texts. These also contain reverse word-lists and a frequency count of the individual words. The concordances are based entirely on the manuscript text, and open Notker's text for ponological, grammatical and syntactic analysis, providing access to individual words in earlier editions.
